Twitter Success Stories Wanted

Most probably you have heard about Twitter. I am particularly amazed at how something so simple is creating so much interest.

I know you follow as many people as you want and build an army of followers as well. You can search what people are talking about and maybe stumble upon an opportunity. I am looking for Twitter success stories that use a more defined approach, not just luck or random word searches.

Here are a couple of examples that I think are interesting:

• A food cart vendor in Philadelphia uses Twitter to inform his followers the next place and time where he will be located.

• A Comcast executive uses Twitter to check the conversation topics and have been able to detect grave service issues rapidly.

Do you know any other success stories?

Regular clients of a coffee shop in Houston use Twitter to place orders before they get there and pick them up in the drive-through. Even though you can send the same message via email or by making a call, the owner do not seem to care for those unfashionable methods of communication.

I use Twitter (I'm a self-proclaimed Twitteraholic). I have several Twitter accounts. My personal one (sunburntbabies), my professional one (SwineWelfareVet), my rugby one (USAWNTsevens), and my rugby club one (KeystoneRugby). Of those, my professional one is where I post articles relevant to the swine industry, swine welfare, etc. I also follow those with similar interests (farming, animal agriculture, etc) and can easily stay up-to-date with the newest articles, blog postings, etc about subjects that are important to me. The 1st Tuesday of every month I join a Twitter "agchat" to "discuss" agriculture with whoever uses the hashtag #agchat. Its pretty awesome.

You can read my blog posting on Twitter here: http://sunburntbabies.blogspot.com/2009/05/oh-no-twitter-is-down.html
