Baseball + Volunteering + Technology

Last night I had the chance to participate in a volunteering event organized by the Philadelphia Young Professionals Network and Variety, a non-for-profit organization devoted to serving children with physical and mental disabilities. Groups of two to three volunteers took one of aproximately 100 children to a Phillies baseball game. It was a wonderful experience where we gave the chance to those children to enjoy the excitement of the game, colors, music and even some baseball park food.

Even though the weather was not on our side I decided to take some photos and I wanted to try the new Windows Live Photo Gallery that was automatically downloaded to my computer to assemble them in a single panoramic view. I think the result was very nice and now I have a 35 megapixel photo of the view I had from my seat. Take a look at the panoramic photo.

All these got me to think about how the benefits of technology are also available to those without deep pockets, like non-profit organizations, and that sometimes the best solution can be very simple and inexpensive.

This is such a wonderful way to give back to the community! it's always great to see for-profits involved in non-profits initiatives! Keep up the great work Ruben!
